Maria Pilar Abaurrea Zardoya
Dancer at Skånes Dansteater since 2015.
Maria Pilar was born in Pamplona, Spain, and studied classical and modern dance at the Escuela Oficial de Navarra.
Over her 20 year career as a dancer, she has worked with most prominent international institutions and renowned choreographers. She has danced with, among others Dansk Danseteater, Denmark; Felix Landerer, Germany; Norrdans, Sweden; Saarländisches Staatstheater’s ballet company, Germany and ItDansa, Spain. Maria Pilar has worked with choreographers such as Marina Mascarell, Tero Saarinen, Tina Tarpgaard, Tilman O'Donnell, Örjan Andersson, Martin Forsberg, Linda Kapetanea, Jo Strömgren, Mats Ek, Jiří Kylián and Nacho Duato.
Her genuine affection for passing on the knowledge cross-generationally and her interest in the social dimension of dance, led towards completing a BA in dance pedagogy in 2020 at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza in Madrid.
As a dancer at Skånes Dansteater, Maria Pilar has been involved in productions such as 'Transit', 'Zero-Zero', 'Time Loops', 'Vår Dag', 'The view from here' and 'it is like a large animal deep in sleep', among others. She has been leading various workshops such as 'Dance for Children and Youth', 'Dance for Parkinson' and 'SWOP Dance Club'.
