Extras wanted for dance performance

Twelve extras are wanted for the dance performance ‘Don't, Kiss .Skånes’ based on lip-to-lip contact by choreographer Fabio Liberti, March 23–April 18, 2024 at Skånes Dansteater. The performance depicts the sensitive and complex topic of human relationships concentrated in something as universal as a kiss. ‘Don't, Kiss .Skånes’ wants to deal with and be an expression of love and equality.

Work Description

The twelve extras will join the dancers on stage in the final session of the performance ‘Don't, Kiss .Skånes’. Please note that participation in the performance involves dancing or moving with your lips against the lips of another person. This person may be of a different or the same gender as you.

Choreographic material is developed together with choreographer Fabio Liberti during two weeks of rehearsals based on the group's common movement abilities.

Performance duration: 60 mins.

Performances:
March 23, March 26, April 4–5, April 9–12, April 17–18, April 20–21, April 23–25, April 28 (20 performances in total), 2024.

Rehearsals:
4–5 rehearsal days, beginning two weeks before premiere. Can be scheduled during regular office hours. Exact rehearsals days to be decided.

Workshops:
Saturday February 3, 10:00–14:00 (no lip contact).
Saturday February 10, 10:00–15:00.
Sunday February 11, 10:00–15:00.

The workshops are an introduction to the artistic and choreographic idea behind the performance. If you have any doubts around participating in the project, come to the first workshop and get a feel for the work and if it inspires you. You are free to stop participating in the workshop at any time and just enjoy the creative atmosphere in the dance studio.

Salary in accordance with the local extras agreement is paid for rehearsals and performances.

Qualifications

Everyone over 18 years is welcome to apply, as well as all genders and cultural backgrounds.
A Swedish personal number (personnummer) or coordination number (samordningsnummer) is required.
No previous dance experience is required, although a minimum sense of rhythm is required.
You can apply as an individual, or as a couple together with someone else.
You should be able to free up time for workshops, rehearsals, and performances, see list of dates above.

The application process includes a workshop divided into three days. You must be able to attend all three days to be considered for the job.  
After February 11, a selection process will take place, after which all applicants will be notified.
